Vigil Alerts
HomeComparisonsHuntress managed ITDR vs Vigil Alerts

Do you need a managed security team, or monitoring software for your own?

Huntress Managed ITDR and Vigil Alerts involve different responsibilities. Establish who will investigate an alert before comparing the monthly figures.

What the managed service includes

Huntress advertises 24/7 human SOC monitoring and automated remediation with its Managed ITDR product. Its public pricing page lists $4.80/month MSRP and an example of $3.60 per licensed identity at 100 identities. It also offers separate MSP partner pricing.

What the Vigil subscription includes

Vigil Alerts is software for your engineers to operate. It monitors supported Microsoft 365 activity and brings events into the review workflow. The subscription does not include a 24/7 SOC or automatic account remediation.

Comparing the bill without comparing unlike services

Vigil starts at £49/month self-hosted or £149/month dedicated hosted for up to 250 monitored users, excluding VAT. Its software price does not buy the additional analyst capacity included in a managed service.

The Huntress figures above are in US dollars; Vigil’s published plans are in pounds. We do not subtract them or claim a percentage saving. Use a current quote in the same currency, matching user counts, tax treatment, terms and service scope.

When Vigil may be a practical choice

Your MSP may already have engineers reviewing Microsoft 365 activity as part of its support operation. If it needs an application to draw attention to mailbox rules, forwarding and sign-ins, Vigil may fit that specific part of the service without purchasing an additional analyst service.

When managed ITDR deserves the budget

If you need human investigation outside your own team’s coverage, put that requirement first. A cheaper software subscription does not create overnight staffing or replace a managed response function.

A real example of the Vigil workflow

At Binn Group, unusual activity and added rules on a director’s account were flagged, enabling IT to reset the account. The distinction matters: Vigil identified activity for review; IT performed the response. Read the case study.
